Ole Miss vs. LSU: Rebels Going To Thrive in Death Valley

We are now approcahing another action packed weekend of college football and what more could sports fans ask for. The slate this weekend is packed with 12 top 25 matchups and plenty more action packed games to look forward to. Just to recap last week my college football prediction didn't go as planned with Baylor losing 40 to 43 in a shootout in Morgantown. I really liked the Baylor Bears in this game but the Mountaineers had different plans pounding the ground against the Bears putting up 217 rushing yards compared to their 169 rushing yards and also limiting their turnovers by only commiting one turnover compared to Baylor's three. So, although I wasn't on the right end of my prediction last week I expect to bounce back this week.

Opening this week up although there are plenty of top 25 mathcups the one am I focused most on is the LSU vs. Ole Miss game. This a mid season divisional game that can change a team's season. These are the games that when you look back at a team's schedule and you see how this game went, you can see it had major implications on the trajectory of their season. First, we have an SEC showdown with the Rebels heading to Baton Rouge. Now, obviously looking at the rankings and how they've done so far this season Ole Miss is the better team on paper but... there is no but. Ole Miss is going to step on LSU in Baton Rouge it's plain and simple. On both sides of the ball Ole Miss is a more complete team being 3rd in third down conversions compared to LSU being 24th. This is not the only offensive category where Ole Miss destroys LSU, they are also top 5 in sacks allowed, only allowing 0.4 per game, and rushing yards, averaging 271.4 yards per game, compared to LSU being 113th in sacks allowed. Yes that's not something I made up THE LSU TIGERS ARE 113TH IN SACKS ALLOWED ALLOWING 3.1 SACKS PER GAME. Ole Miss having this strong O-line compared to LSU's abissmal O-line is what gives Ole Miss a huge edge in this game. There will also be lots of scoring in this game not only because of LSU's pathetic O-line but also because both these teams average over 30 points per game with LSU averaging 33.7 and Ole Miss averaging 40.9 points per game. So I exepect this game to be a very high scoring game and even though the Rebels are heading into Death Valley they are going to be doing nothing related to dying. Last year, Ole miss won this game at home and they are going to do the same thing this year but this time they will be doing it in Lousiana.
